1951 Chevy Deluxe

This is the amazing Autumn view from our tree stand. The car in the brush is 1951 Chevy Deluxe. Sitting in this stand is worth it even just to look at the car and to also watch the squirrels jump onto it and make a very loud metallic noise.
My Aunt and Uncle got me this dinosaur archery target. Its pretty cool. There are vitals shown in the front and both sides. it makes it pretty fun to shoot in the backyard. Thank you Chad and Cyndie.

Sighting in the Remington

Sighted in the deer rifle at 100 yards, within a 4 inch spread

First Deer of the Year

After the first night in the stand ,papa, shot this spike. The next morning we went into the swamp were we knew it had gone. after an hour or so of looking in the water and mud ,papa yeld to me "john will you come help me with this log i think Nana would like it" in my head i thought he must be nuts im not dragging a log out of the swamp. As i got closer i saw there was the deer.Right in the middle of a swamp with 2 feet of water and then 8 inches of mud underneath.        Maybe the log would have been easier to take out.                                      from left to right(David/brother,me,papa)

Does Corn Down Mean Deer Levels Down?

Last year there was soy bean planted  on the side of our property in South Eastern Minnesota. We got quite a few deer pictures up until late October when the deer where there every day for about 2 weeks. They then almost completely disapeared for the most part.

This year we have gotten many pictures of deer and gotten my hopes have sky rocketed. I am thinking that now that the corn is down the deer will soon disappear. I havent found any other main food sources on the property. And I am deffinatly not a professional, does anyone no if the deer will be less active in the area and if so where to hunt them?

Trail Camera Check

i havent checked the cameras for about 2 weeks. so i checked the cameras today got these in a bunch of trees and the field side were we have one stand.
This is from the the same buch of trees but on the end. It is a small buck but it is a really cool shot with the sun beating down on him as he looks around.
Again there are deer licking the camera and this is even a different one than usually.
The same small buck as above but a cool shot because you can see the house and sheds in the background.

Pellet Gun-35 yards

Sighted in the pellet gun today at about 35 yards. As you can see im not a great shot but i do enjoy just shooting the gun with no kick and little noise.

Archery season in full swing

Now that archery season has opened up. Ive been out hunting as often as I can. (which isnt as often as I would like) and there have already been close encounters ranging from a nice buck at 45 yds to a button buck at about 3 yds. This week I will be heading north to hunt with papa. Hopefully ill be able to capitalize on one of these close encounters.

Hunting truck

A big thanks out to my mom and dad who bought me my first car.It is a 2001 Ford Ranger. Hopefully the bed of this truck will be used for carrying harvested deer and treestands for a long time. Also thanks to my Aunt Ginny for selling us the truck.

Air gun Hunting

Me and My Brother have recently begun hunting squirrels and rabbits with our pellet guns. My brother bought one (big cat 1200)  because of youtube videos he had been watching and thought it was cool. My friends also had them, and  intruduced me. my brother went out and bought a regular rifle looking air gun. we were surprised by the performance and accuracy to hit the same holes at 20 yds.(we would go further but this is how close we are to most small game.) so I decided to go and buy a slightly more expensive pellet gun.(above; gamo silent cat 12500) as you can see mine has a silencer that doesnt seem to do anything but looks really cool. It also has a thumb hole which again is only a preference. It performs the same as my brothers. But I will be able to stretch out my distance on mine because my brother has the scope his came with. which is not bad in any means but is only 4 power. where I replaced mine with a 9 power rifle scope. we have gotten quite a few squirrels, a chipmunk and a rabbit (below) these .177 cal. 1200fps pellet guns have no problem with dispatching these animals unless of course you shoot them in the leg or butt.

.30-06 Remington 700

This is my new Remington 700 .30-06. i am very pleased with the look, accuracy and everything else. I thank my mom and dad for helping me pay for it. cause as you may know, they are not cheap, especially for a 15 year old without a job. I also upgraded the scope to a higher quality nikon.

First Deer

Too go along with my first muskie (below). This is my first deer. It was a 140 lb (dressed) and had seven points. Shot with my uncle's .243 bolt. I harvested it in 2009 on Nov. 7th which was opening day. I have not been able to harvest any deer with my bow shotgun(slugs) or rifle since then.

Thats a Big Walleye

This is my first and only muskie ive caught. It was 34 inches long and estimated 13-15 lbs. it was caught in 2008 on walleye crankbaits an leech lake.  My uncle also named John had actually caught something else and i was reeling as fast as i could so i could get the net and it hit not 20 feet from the boat. At the time i was 11 years old.

Peanut Butter on the lens?

Just about everytime we check the camera there is a picture of a deer licking the lens and camera. Theres nothing on or above the camera and we've moved it to different trees but it continues to happen. It makes for alot of close up shots.

Fishing on Lake Superior

This August we have taken a vacation to duluth. One of the best things we did was take a half day charter fishing trip on Lake Superior. The fishing was very good and we caught fish often. But the best part was the size of the lake trout we caught. My mom caught the biggest one.(17-18 lbs)

My brother also caught a small salmon, this was the only non lake trout we caught. I would highly reccomend taking this charter fishing. It was a blast and a fun family event.

playground to hunting ground

This is actually a play-set with out the swing side attatched. My dad and I took it apart and drove it, in pieces, down to were we hunt most of the time. where when they set it back up piece by piece. we then wrapped it in camo burlap. It is the most comfortable way to hunt that we have. It is meant mostly for bow hunting. and since i am the only one in my family that bow hunts. there is room for someone else to sit. and if you cant already tell my head is sticking up over the camo, i have a camo face mask on.
